A South Mississippi program that helps adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities wants all your green beads.
The Gulf Coast Mental Health Center Work Activity Program hopes to gather thousands of strands of beads thrown at this weekend's St. Patrick's Day parades for its Throw-M-Again bead-collection program and recycling project.
The organization has distributed nearly 100 collection bins in schools and businesses from Picayune to Pascagoula, work-activities director Hilton Glass said.
Mardi Gras beads are also in demand, he said.
Both types of necklaces can be dropped in collection bins through April 30.
Glass said he is already getting orders from around the country for recycled Mardi Gras beads for 2014.
Clients in the work-activity program processed thousands of pounds of beads to fill orders for this year's Mardi Gras parades, Glass said. For more information, call 868-2072.
