HANNOVER, Germany (AP) -Hannover's American captain Steve Cherundolo has undergone arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
The Bundesliga club's coach Mirko Slomka said Thursday the defender had the operation on Wednesday, but did not give a timeline for his expected return.
Cherundolo has played 380 matches for Hannover, including 280 in the top division. He has 15 appearances this season.
Cherundolo missed the U.S. team's 2-1 loss against Honduras in World Cup qualifying on Wednesday because of the injury.
